Nawazuddin Siddiqui's Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa To Be Released 7 Years After Completion: 'I Had Given Up On It'- EXCLUSIVE
7 years after being ready, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's film, Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa will finally be available for the audience to view. The film, directed by acclaimed Bengali director Buddhadev Dasgupta, will release on an OTT platform
It was so long ago that the director himself has forgotten about it. Highly acclaimed Bengali director Buddhadev Dasgupta, whose last Hindi film Andhi Gali (featuring Deepti Naval and Kulbhushab Kharbanda) was released in 1984 is back with his second Hindi film.
Dasgupta’s Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa is being streamed on ErosNow on November 20, albeit with a new more “youth-friendly” pan-India title Sniffer.
Weirdly the film’s director is billed as ‘B D Gupta’ which makes him sound more like a builder from Kolkata than a world-renowned filmmaker. The film’s leading man Nawazuddin Siddiqui says he is glad this film is finally getting a release. “I am extremely proud of the film. It is the story of a detective on a very strange mission. He is searching for himself. When Dada signed me for the film, I felt blessed. Nawaz is thankful to the OTT platform for rescuing many undiscovered gems. “I had a long list of unreleased films. I had worked really hard on these films. Just when I had given up hope of ever seeing them released, the digital platform has come forward with the solution. I am really fortunate to see my labours of love finally being put out there for an audience that has the will to watch films that make them think.”
