Quite a few women are raising their voice against the statement made by Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat. He reportedly questioned a woman's ability to protect the culture by wearing ripped jeans. His statements have irked many including Amitabh Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda. In a series of posts on Insta stories, Navya expressed her disappointment over CM Tirath Singh's remarks.
Navya also shared a picture of her wearing ripped jeans and stated that she will wear them proudly. "I'll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I'll wear them proudly." Prior to this, she made a few posts over the same. She wrote, “Change your mentality before changing our clothes because the only shocking here is the message comments like this send to society. As reported by NDTV.com, Tirath Singh Rawat said, "Kaynchi se sanskaar (culture by scissors) - showing bare knees, wearing ripped denim and looking like rich kids - these are the values being given now. Where is this coming from, if not at home? What is the fault of teachers or schools? Where am I taking my son, showing his knees and in tattered jeans? Girls are no less, showing their knees.
