Munnabhai & Hirani Waiting For Sanju

Finally! Director Rajkumar Hirani, after completing work on PK (which is still being shot to keep its December 19 date with the audience), will helm the third outing of the Munnabhai series. The 51-year-old has been working on a script for the movie, which will roll immediately after Sanjay Dutt completes his jail term in 2015. Arshad Warsi will return as Circuit, a role that has become synonymous with him over the years.

“We’re sure well roll with the third movie in the Munnabhai franchise as soon as Sanju completes his jail term and returns home. That all were waiting for,” gushes Arshad who has a slew of films lined up for production and post-production between 2014 and 2015.
 

Eighteen months ago, it was reported that Raju may not direct the third film because director Subhash Kapoor had been roped in following the success of Jolly LLB. However, it seems that as a result of the recent controversy involving Subhash and model Geetika Tyagi, the ball has rolled right back in Rajus court. He has been co-writing the film with his ‘pen-pal Abhijat Joshi and will direct the film when his Munnabhai returns from jail.

Our source close to the filmmaker, on anonymity, says, The work on Munnabhai will begin after PK's release later this year. The title hasn't been finalized as yet but the story will be as engrossing and entertaining as the previous outings.  When we asked Raju whether he would go back to the Munnabhai series, given that another filmmaker had been roped in for it earlier, he said, No, I will do a Munnabhai movie. And we are writing it right now. It's almost there. Were on it. It will be with Arshad and Sanju.
