Mumbai Aarey Forest Protest: Twitterati Demand Shutting Down Of Film City As Bollywood Stars Express Anger Over Deforestration
Mumbai city woke up to the scary news of the chopping down of trees in Aarey forests. While many celebrities expressed their anger against the order passed by the Mumbai High Court allowing the authorities to chop trees, protesters and activists quickly demanded an alternative solution. As protesters and activists took to social media to lash out at the High court’s order, the main target at the end of the day turned out to be Bollywood. Today, as the celebrities extended their support, Twitterati found an alternative solution by trending #ShutdownFilmcity.

Earlier this morning, many Bollywood celebrities like Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, Dia Mirza, and several others expressed their anger on the High court’s decision to axe down the Aarey forest for the Metro train yard. Little did they know that they'll fall in trouble. After the High Court’s decision of chopping down of the Aarey forest, many took to Twitter to express their anger. While no alternative solution against the issue was found, the Twitterati started trending the #ShutdownFilmcity to save Mumbai's forest area.

While several argued on the social networking site over the issue, the protesters proposed that Mumbai’s film city is 20 times larger than the area required for the building of the car shed at JVLR and suggested constructing the yard in some different zone in the city.
