Mumbai Aarey Forest Protest: Alia Bhatt And Varun Dhawan Raise Concern Over The Midnight Cutting Down Of 400 Trees
It’s shocking! Over the night, more than 400 hundred trees have been cut at Aarey, as per reports. This to make space for the car-shed of the upcoming Mumbai metro. For long, the protest has been on over Government’s decision to cut trees in Aarey and last night, a move was made of chopping of the trees, leaving Mumbaikars fuming. Now, even stars are raising their voices against this decision. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt too have raised concern. The Badrinath Ki Dulhania stars took to social media and expressed their angst against such a brutal move of those in power.

Alia Bhatt on her Twitter handle wrote, “There's always been a conflict between development & conservation. Yes, the city needs to build infrastructure to support a growing population. But the city also needs trees & parks & greenery. We need to protect nature like life depends on it. Because it does. #LetMumbaiBreathe.”

Varun Dhawan expressing the same thoughts retweeted Alia’s tweet. He also went on to post that Mumbaikars have done enough for those in power to know that they don’t want trees to be cut. He wrote, “This is heartbreaking news. With such an outcry to stop the cutting of trees why is this being allowed mumbai has done enough for the people in power to realise cutting down aarey is something the citizens don’t want.” Check out their tweets below:

Apart from these two, many other Bollywood celebrities like Dia Mirza, Farhan Akhtar, Swara Bhasker and others have come out to express disappointment over the cutting down of trees in Aarey.
