Mrunal Thakur On Playing Similar Characters In Toofaan And Jersey: ‘That’s Exactly Why I Did This Film’- EXCLUSIVE
Mrunal Thakur seems to be in a very good place in her life professionally. After working with John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan, the actress was recently seen opposite Farhan Akhtar in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s sports drama Toofaan. She will next be seen in another sports drama Jersey, opposite Shahid Kapoor.

In both Toofaan and Jersey, there is a bit of a similar backdrop with the protagonist shown as a sportsperson in crisis, who is trying to make his way back in the game. In both, Mrunal plays the spouse of the said sportsperson. Ask Mrunal if she is afraid of people pointing out similarities in her portrayals in the two films, and pat comes the reply, “That’s exactly why I did this film.”

Mrunal asserts that she is well aware of the position she has put herself in but there are no regrets on her part. “I knew this question of similarity would come and people would ask how it is different. But even though the backdrop is sports based in both the films, the performances are going to be different as every sports person has their own journey. Toofaan had its own and Jersey will have its own journey. And I will make sure that Mrunal never plays similar roles,” she asserts.

The actress insists that she has promised herself to keep exploring herself through her characters. “I am sure that whatever the situation is, even if the stories are similar, I will make sure my performances are different. I am just happy to be a part of sports films. There is a lot of learning and motivation in such films and I also hope that through my work, I also motivate others,” she concludes.
