The star-studded Music Mirchi Awards 2022, which was held on 8th March, left everyone emotional and teary-eyed as the event witnessed emotional tributes paid to late legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Bappi Lahiri. Bappi Da’s grandson Swastik Bansal paid a heartfelt tribute to the late singer by singing his iconic composition' Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna', which was one of the biggest hits composed by Bappi Lahiri.  Swastik, who was joined on the stage by his mother Rema Lahiri, broke down in tears while singing the song. 

On the stage, Swastik started singing Kabhi Alvida as a collage of pictures featuring Bappi Lahiri appeared on the screen. Rema also could not hold back her tears and got emotional hearing the song. Swastik broke down towards the end of the song and hugged singer Sonu Nigam, who completed the rest of the song. At the award night, Sonu Nigam also paid an emotional tribute to 'Nightingale of India' Lata Mangeshkar. He sang her iconic song ‘Do Pal’ from Veer Zaara with Shruti Pathak and Jonita Gandhi. For the unversed,  Lata Mangeshkar left for her heavenly abode on February 6 due to Covid-19 related complications. She was 94.

Coming back to the awards, Music Mirchi Awards 2022 was attended by many popular B-Town and TV celebs including, Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan,  Karisma Kapoor, Neha Kakkar, Neha Bhasin, The Mohan sisters-Mukti Mohan, Neeti Mohan and Shakti Mohan among others.
