Marathi Film Court Goes To Oscars
Chaitanya Tamhane's Court has been selected as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Category at the 88th Academy Awards.

The film, which traces a trial held in a lower court, has already bagged the National Award in the Best Feature Film Category for 2014.

SpotboyE got in touch with Chaitanya. Speaking exclusively to us from Japan, the director said, "At every juncture of the film's journey, we have felt that it has given us more than we could ever imagine. Once again, this has come as a genuine surprise to both Vivek (Gomber, the producer) and me. Ever since we started making the film, we kept our expectations low. Especially in this case, since these results tend to be so unpredictable. Now that it has actually happened, we would like to thank the jury for their decision and everyone who has supported the film so far."

The other films in contention were Killa, Masaan and Kaaka Muttai.

Senior actor Amol Palekar was heading the jury for choosing India's entry to the Oscars.
