Mallika Sherawat Compares ‘Murder’ To Gehraiyaan: ‘What Deepika Padukone Did In Gehraaiyaan, I Did That 15 Years Ago’!
Mallika Sherawat is popularly known for her stint in 'Murder' and the movie starred her opposite Emraan Hashmi. Notably, in a career spanning in 2 decades, the ravishing actor has given some of the boldest and most incredible performances. 

In a recent interview, the Ugly Aur Pagli actress opened up about the changes in the role offered to female actors over the years in the industry and also compared her role in Murder to Deepika Padukone’s role in Gehraiyaan.

The Murder actress, in a recent interaction with Prabhat Khabar, spoke about the changes she has seen in the characters offered to the actresses over the last twenty years. She was quoted saying, "Earlier, the heroines were either too good, sati-savitri types who were too innocent to know anything, or they were the characterless vamps. These were the only two types of roles written for heroines. The change that we see now, shows women as humans. She can be happy or sad. She can make mistakes, she can falter, and you love them despite all of that."




Interestingly, the Pyaar Ke Side Effects actress compared her role in Murder to Deepika Padukone's role in Gehraiyaan. Comparing her portrayal of the character to Deepika’s portrayal she quipped, “The heroines are more confident about their bodies as well. Such hue and cry were created when I did Murder. People said all kinds of things about the kiss and the bikini. What Deepika Padukone did in Gehraaiyaan, I did that 15 years ago, but people were too narrow-minded back then.”

She added that there is a certain section of people in the industry and the media that tortured her. Those people never talked about her acting skills in movies like Dashavataram, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and Welcome instead only spoke about her body and glamour.




On the professional front, The ‘Mayya Mayya’ girl will be seen next in Rajat Kapoor’s written and directed comedy-drama RK/RKay. The film also stars Kubbra Sait, Ranvir Shorey, and Manu Rishi Chadha in pivotal roles, while Rajat Kapoor himself plays the lead. The film is slated to release theatrically on July 22, 2022, clashing with Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera.
