Mahesh Bhatt Reminisces About Falling In Love With Wife Soni Razdan: ‘I Resisted But I Was Helplessly Drawn, She Could Contain My Insanity’
Mahesh Bhatt recently opened up about his love story with Soni Razdan and shared how some of his films were deeply inspired by their love story
Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has never shied away from opening up about life experiences, personal as well as professional. He always stands by his views on the trending topics of the Hindi entertainment industry and the choices he made in his life. He recently opened up about how he fell in love with his now-wife Soni Razdan. During a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, he reminisced about his own love story.
Having brought to life many iconic love stories on the big screen, he revealed how some of his films were deeply inspired by their love story. While talking to the entertainment portal, he explained that he never wanted to let Soni enter his life, and did his best to resist it. However, she brought a much-needed sanity to his life. The 75-year-old filmmaker said, “Soni happened to me and I resisted but I was drawn into this relationship and helplessly drawn. She was the sanest person who came into my life. She could contain and absorb my insanity.”
The Sadak filmmaker took a trip down memory lane and revealed how their love story became an inspiration for his movie Raaz. He also revealed how the movie’s iconic dialogue, “Mere itne kareeb mat aao, main tumhe barbaad kar dungi. Main barbaad hona chahta hu,” was something he has in person told Razdan as he had felt unworthy of her love. Bhatt further explained that he asked her how he cane be worthy for her love.
Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, Mahesh Bhatt said, “She was lovely. whenever you fall in love you always feel you’re unworthy of the person whom you’re in love with so I asked how do I become worthy of her so I wore shoes and I felt so uncomfortable and she looked at me and that made me more even more uncomfortable and I remember we were sitting down in a hotel in Worli and I told her I said don’t come very close to me I’ll destroy you. that’s a dialogue we use in Raaz and she said I want to be destroyed and that was the rest of history. But I told her I would never leave her.”
For those who don’t know, Mahesh Bhatt was earlier married to Kiran Bhatt aka Lorraine Bright. They have two kids, a daughter Pooja Bhatt, and a son Rahul Bhatt. After separating from his first wife, he went on to marry Soni Razdan. They have two daughters Shaheen Bhatt and Alia Bhatt.
