Mahesh Bhatt Makes SHOCKING Revelation About Jagjit Singh's Late Son, Says Ghazal Singer Had To Pay BRIBE To Get His Son's Mortal Remains
Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt recently unveiled startling details about the legendary singer Jagjit Singh's life following the tragic loss of his son in a car accident back in 1990. Bhatt disclosed that the Ghazal maestro had to pay a bribe to a junior officer to retrieve his son's mortal remains. In the Sadak director's words, "When the son of Jagjit Singh passed away in a tragic accident, he told me that he had to pay a bribe to junior officers to get his son’s body, and that’s when he understood the importance of Saaransh." Mahesh Bhatt further revealed that several incidents from Jagjit Singh's life served as reference points for the film Saaransh, a cinematic creation directed by Bhatt.

Jagjit Singh faced further heartbreak when his daughter also passed away in 2009. Following the death of their son, Singh's wife Chitra, who was also a singer, ceased her musical pursuits entirely. Despite the profound personal losses, Jagjit Singh, renowned for his soulful voice, has left an indelible mark on Hindi cinema with timeless classics like 'Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho', 'Chitthi Na Koi Sandesh', 'Tumko Dekha Toh', 'Hothon Se Chhu Lo Tum,' and many others.

Recently, Mahesh Bhatt's timeless classic Saaransh celebrated its 40th anniversary since its release. The film, featuring an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Rohini Hattangadi, Soni Razdan, among others, tells the poignant tale of an elderly couple residing in Mumbai grappling with the profound grief of losing their only son.
