Luv Films Announce A Biopic On The Cricket Legend Sourav Ganguly; No Lead Actor Zeroed In Yet
Luv Films, the production house founded by filmmaker Luv Ranjan, has announced Sourav Ganguly's biopic.
Sports biopics are one of the most prominent story ideas in Bollywood. After MS Dhoni’s biopic, a film on the coveted 1983 Cricket World Cup, titled 83, starring Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev is soon to hit the silver screen. Next up will be a biopic on the legendary Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian skipper and current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Luv Films, the production house founded by filmmaker Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, shared the film announcement on Instagram Thursday.
''We are thrilled to announce that Luv Films will produce Dada Sourav Ganguly's biopic,'' the statement read. ''We are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings,'' the producers further said.
Reports had earlier said that Shiboprpsad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, the game changers of film making in the Bengali Film Industry, were touted to be collaborating for the biopic. However, in a surprising turn of events, Luv Films announced the project.
Sourav Ganguly, popularly known as Dada has undisputedly been one of the most successful and controversial cricket captains of India. He has a special place in the hearts that beat for cricket. He is also quite excited about his biopic. He took to Twitter to share the excitement.
“Cricket has been my life, it gave me confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled that Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen,” shared Sourav Ganguly on Twitter.
