Khubsoorat Actor And The Office Star Ranjit Chowdhry Passes Away Aged 64, Soni Razdan Mourns The Loss
Bollywood actor Ranjit Chowdhry, who acted in films such as Khubsoorat, Khatta Meetha, Baaton Baaton Mein, has passed away yesterday, at the age of 64. Ranjit Chowdhry was the son of Indian theatre personality Pearl Padamsee. The news of his demise was shared by his half-sister Raell Padamsee, of Ace Productions, on her Instagram handle, and the reason for his death is not known yet.  His funeral will be held on Thursday, that is, today.

Raell Padamsee took to her Instagram to share the sad news of Ranjit Chwdhey’s demise. She shared a monochromatic picture of him and wrote that he passed away on April 15, 2020. She called him an ‘actor, writer, maverick’, and mentioned that he will be missed dearly. In her caption, she wrote, “For all those who knew Ranjit, the funeral will be held tomorrow and a gathering to celebrate his life n share his stories on May 5th. With love, Raell.”

Soni Razdan mourned the loss, and wrote, “Omg I can’t believe this. So sorry Raell heartfelt condolences.”


Ranjit Chowdhry played the role of Jagan Gupta in Rekha and Rakesh Roshan’s film Khoobsurat. The actor moved to the US in 10980, and also appeared in two episodes of the popular American show The Office. He played the role of Vikram, a telemarketer who was briefly hired for The Michael Scott Paper Company. He made his Bollywood debut with the film Khatta Meetha, in 1978. He also wrote the screenplay and acted for Deepa Mehta’s film Sam & Me in 1990, for which he was also given an honorable mention at the Cannes Film Festival.
