Kareena Kapoor Khan Shuts Down Reports Of Demanding Rs 12 Crores For The To Play Sita, Says, ‘I Was Never Offered That’
Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha with Aamir Khan. She has grabbed eyeballs for her statements and never shied away from giving her opinion. Recently, in an interview, she reacted to the rumours of her demanding Rs 12 Crores for the film Sita: The Incarnation.

In the recent interaction with Zoom, she dismissed the rumours and said that she was never offered the role. She was quoted saying, “I never gave an explanation because I was never offered that. I don't even know why I was put into that because I wasn't the choice for the film. These all are made-up stories and I don't want to put anybody down because even they need stories. Every day people are looking for some sort of stories on Instagram but I don't know where they came from. There are 100 platforms today and so many things are said, so will we do our job, or should we just put out tweets clarifying our stand?”

For the unversed, last year, the Omkara actress made the headlines as according to the unconfirmed reports she had hiked her fees for the upcoming Sita: The Incarnation. The actress has asked for Rs 12 Crores for the film as it was on large scale and required a longer commitment. Many of her contemporaries came in her support and Kareen received backlash for the same. It has also triggered debate over pay disparity in the Hindi film industry.

In fact, last year she indirectly responded to the rumours indirectly and in an interview with the Guardian, she spoke about pay disparity. She was quoted saying, “I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given. It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing.”

On the work front, Kareena will be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha which is slated to release on August 11, 2022, pan India. The film also stars  Naga Chaitanya, Chiranjeevi, and Mona Singh.
