Karan Johar Remembers Dad Yash Johar On His Birth Anniversary With an Emotional Post
Yesterday marked the late filmmaker Yash Johar’s birth anniversary. The filmmaker was the founder of Dharma Productions and had given some huge successes like Dostana, Agneepath, Gumrah and Duplicate. He, however, succumbed to a chest infection in 2004 at the age of 74, while he was also battling cancer.

Johar was succeeded by his son Karan Johar, who took over the reins of the production house and made it reach new heights, making it one of the leading and most powerful production houses in Bollywood. Karan was extremely close to his father and has always been vocal about his influence on his life.

So, as his father’s birth anniversary arrived yesterday, Karan shared an emotional video remembering his father. Along with it, he wrote, “It's been many years but it still feels like yesterday when papa was next to me, guiding me with every decision I made. Today along with Dharma, @TheYJF_ (Yash Johar Foundation) is also now a reality and continues to form itself into an establishment that is making a difference in the society we live in and I can't help but feel that he's still here...in many forms. It's his indelible nature & kindness that inspired many and especially me. I hope and pray to carry on these values as his legacy & pass it onto my children too. Miss you, your energy, your love & your affection everyday.”

Karan founded The Yash Johar Foundation in June this year, and the foundation aims to provide aid and help improve the quality of life for all the people in the entertainment industry. Karan had asserted that this is a step by him to carry forward the legacy of his father for the people of the entertainment industry, and is built on his father’s core values.
