Kangana Ranaut Withdraws Suit Against BMC; Seeks Regularisation Over Alleged Irregularities At Her Flats
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in March 2018, had issued a notice to Kangana Ranaut overalleged illegal merger of her three flats in Orchid Breeze building in Khar. Kangana’s suit against this notice had been dismissed by the Dindoshi civil court in December 2020, after which the actress had approached the High Court. Now, PTI reports that Kangana told the Bombay High Court that she would file a regularisation application before the BMC in connection with the alleged irregularities at her Khar flats.

PTI reports that Kangana’s counsel Birendra Saraf sought to withdraw the appeal filed by Kangana against the civil court's order that had dismissed her petition against the notice issued by the BMC or the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in 2018.  Justice Prithviraj K Chavan permitted Kangana to withdraw her appeal and also said that she is permitted to apply for regularization before the BMC within 4 weeks. Prithviraj K Chavan also added that no coercive action shall be taken against Kangana by the BMC until her regularisation application is considered and decided, and for two weeks thereafter.

“The appellant (Ranaut) is permitted to apply for regularisation before the MCGM within a period of four weeks. In case of any adverse order against the appellant, no coercive action shall be taken thereafter by the BMC to enable the appellant to file appeal,” PTI quoted Justice Chavan saying.

The civil court had earlier dismissed the suit and had said that there was ‘grave violation of the sanctioned plan’ while merging the three flats. Kangana’s petition, however, stated that she hadn’t made any structural changes since she bought the flats in 2013.
