Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel arrive at the Bandra Police Station to record their statements in a sedition case filed against them
Over a week ago, Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel were spotted at the Mumbai airport as they arrived in the city after spending some time with their family in their hometown in Himachal Pradesh. Today, Kangana and her sister Rangoli were seen arriving at the Bandra police station amid security, and they appeared before the Mumbai police to record their statements in a sedition case that has been filed against them.
According to reports, in November 2020, the Bombay High Court had granted interim protection from arrest to both Kangana and Rangoli till today and had directed the two to appear before Bandra Police on January 8. The case was registered against Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel in October by the Bandra police after a complaint was lodged against them by casting director and fitness trainer Munnawar Ali Sayyed. He claimed that Kangana and Rangoli tried to spread communal tension between two religious groups through their social media posts.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut recently released a video on Twitter questioning the Supreme Court over several cases on her. She said that she was being subjected to torture.
“I want to ask the Supreme Court of India, ‘Is this the medieval age where women are burnt alive and they can’t even talk to anyone?’ This torture is happening in front of the world. I want to ask people who are watching this unfold that the kind of torture we endured during the 1000 years that we were fighting for independence, we will have to endure that torture again if nationalist voices are muted,” said Kangana, in the video message.
