Kangana Ranaut Loses Her Cool On Alia Bhatt’s New Bridal Ad: 'Don’t Use Religion To Sell Things'
Actress Kangana Ranaut is an avid social media user and she often expresses her views on the issues that interest her. Now, the Manikarnika actress has reacted to a new advertisement featuring actor Alia Bhatt. She lashed out at Alia, who was seen as the bride in the ad, and mentioned that she doesn't agree with the practice of ‘Kanyadaan’ (giving one’s daughter away) at some Indian weddings.

Taking to her Instagram account on Tuesday, Kangana penned a long note and tagged Alia Bhatt in her latest post. The 34-year-old actor objected to the idea of the ad and said that the commercial aims to ‘manipulate’ its customers by using ‘religion, minority-majority politics’ for their gains.

Explaining herself and her opinions in a long note, Kangana said, “We often see a Martyr's father on television when they loose a son on the border they roar don't worry I have one more son, uska bhi daan main iss dharti Maa ko dunga... Kanyadaan ho ya putradaan... The way a society looks at the concept of (lack of equivalent word in English or Urdu using) renunciation shows it's core value system... When they start to look down upon the very idea of daan... Then you know it is time for reestablishment of Ram Rajya.... The king who renounced everything he ever loved only to live the life of a Tapasvi (monk) Please stop mocking Hindus and their rituals.... Dharti (Earth) and woman both are mothers in scriptures they are worshipped as goddesses of fertility.... Nothing wrong in seeing them as precious and very source of existence (shakti)."

Her caption read, “Humble request to all brands ….. don’t use religion, minority, majority politics to sell things …. Stop manipulating naive consumer with shrewd divisive concepts and advertising… #mohey @aliaabhatt @moheyfashion @stylebyami.”

The advertisement featured Alia Bhatt as a bride-to-be who sits beside her husband-to-be at the wedding mandap and talks about how her family keeps reminding her that one day she must get married and leave for her in-laws’ house in a long monologue. She said, “Am I a thing to be donated? Why only kanyadaan.”

While several netizens appreciated the ad and called it a ‘modern concept’, there was a section of social media users who slammed the ad for its ‘woke feminism’.

For the uninitiated, this isn’t the first time Kanagana has lashed out at Alia. Previously she took a direct dig at Alia who didn’t share a response on the same. Calling her a part of the ‘nepo gang’, Kangana claimed to an entertainment portal that she advised Alia to have a ‘voice of her own’. Furthermore, she remarked as Karan Johar’s ‘puppet’ and said that it was ‘embarrassing to be compared to Alia’s ‘mediocre’ performance in ‘Gully Boy’.

Work-wise, Kangana Ranaut has an interesting line-up of films which includes, Dhaakad co-starring Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta. The actress will also be seen in ‘Tejas’ where she will be essaying the role of an Air Force Pilot.
