Kangana Ranaut Gives Yet Another Controversial Statement Ahead Of Emergency Release! Says 'Bhindranwale Not A Saint But Terrorist'
Kangana Ranaut recently opened up about the delay in the release of her upcoming film Emergency, which was originally scheduled to be released on September 6. The postponement was reportedly due to pending certification from the censor board. Additionally, several Sikh organizations have objected to the film's release, alleging that it portrays the Sikh community in a negative light. These groups have raised concerns about how certain historical figures, particularly Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, are depicted in the film. The controversy has sparked calls for the movie to be banned.

Speaking at the News18 India Chaupal event in New Delhi, Kangana defended her film, stating that only a few people are objecting to it. She challenged the narrative around Bhindranwale, describing him as a terrorist rather than a saint. In a bold statement, she argued that this part of history has been deliberately concealed and that people should be more informed about it. According to her, despite having historians supervise the making of Emergency and receiving proper certification, there are still groups that are trying to prevent its release. Kangana emphasized that the film is historically accurate and that she has received threats as a result of its portrayal of Bhindranwale, who some regard as a revolutionary or leader. She further claimed that the vast majority of people in Punjab do not consider Bhindranwale a saint.

Kangana also revealed that the delay in releasing the film has caused her significant financial loss, expressing frustration over the continued postponement. She lamented the opposition and the threats she has received, arguing that her intent was never to play it safe or compromise on the film’s content. Kangana, who not only stars in the movie but also directs it, is passionate about its message and is committed to ensuring that it sees the light of day.

Besides Kangana, the film boasts a star-studded cast, including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, and Shreyas Talpade. While Talpade will portray Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Kher will take on the role of Jayaprakash Narayan, and the late Satish Kaushik will be seen as Jagjivan Ram. Despite these strong performances, the film continues to face calls for a boycott, with Sikh organizations like the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Akhal Takht demanding an immediate ban. These groups argue that the film unjustly maligns the Sikh community and promotes a harmful narrative against them.
