If Vikas Bahl directed Kangana Ranaut in a film, his wife, Richa desgined the interiors of her home
While her husband directed Kangna Ranaut in his ambitious project, Queen, she tastefully decorated her abode. Apart from doing up husband, director-producer Vikas Bahl’s Phantom Films new office in Lokhandwala, Mumabi, Richa Bahl, a leading interior designer, worked on Kangnas new apartment.
“Its such a great feeling when Kangna says that she loves her house so much that she doesn't want to step out of it when shes in town,” laughs Richa.
It took her all of five months to break down a four-bedroom apartment into a space that the actress can call her own. Two bedrooms were broken down to create a walk-in and a dedicated make-up spacer. Theres an elaborate seating area, a spacious bedroom and a pleasant bathroom with a lot of open spaces in the house, which keeps the actress close to her roots. The house has an earthy look and is replete with eclectic decorative pieces; the flooring has been done in greys, yellows and numerous other colours, and finished with a fancy chandelier.
Kangana and Richa hit it off during the filming of Queen. The actress frequently dropped in to spend time with the filmmaker and Richa. Back then, the fashion-conscious heroine was scouting for an interior designer, who could restructure her flat into a home to reflect her personality.
She had a vision, but she also loved the ideas and references that I had in mind. Its a mix of Indian and modern contemporary ideas. She picked up things from New York, Los Angeles and cities in Europe for the bar, seating areas, bedroom and the kitchen. Shes passionate and house-proud, and thats the reason it was fun working with her, says Richa.
