The Supreme Court-appointed Justice Lodha Committee has passed its verdict on Raj Kundra and his IPL (Indian Premier League) franchise Rajasthan Royals. Kundra has been found guilty of betting in the 2013 edition of the cricket league.
Stating that his misconduct with betting "brought disrepute to the game", the committee announced that the co-owner of Rajasthan Royals be suspended for life from all cricket matches relating to BCCI. He has also been declared ineligible to participate in any cricket activities for 5 years.
His team Rajasthan Royals has been suspended for 2 years.
The Lodha Committee has also found Gurunath Meiyappan guilty in the IPL spot-fixing scandal. He has been banned for life from all activities related to cricket matches while his team Chennai Super Kings has been suspended for 2 years.
