Just In: FTII Students Call Off Strike After 139 Days
Students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) have put an end to their hunger strike. They will begin attending classes but will not engage in any talks with government officials.

The students have stated that they will persist with their protest against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of FTII.

The strike had begun on June 12 when the BJP MP was chosen to head the premier institute (FTII students on indefinite strike against new Chairman, June 12).

The outrage took a turn for worse in September when 3 students went on a hunger strike to convey their displeasure to the ruling party's indifferent attitude towards them (Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley, what on earth is happening?, September 10). One of the students even had to be rushed to the ICU after his blood sugar level dropped drastically.
