Jiah Khan death: Supreme Court asks Bombay HC to expedite probe
Here's the latest update from the world of Bollywood. We bet you wouldn't want to miss this. Read on for details... The order comes in the wake of a plea filed by the actress’s mother, Rabia Amin
The Supreme Court has asked the Bombay High Court to speed up the probe in the Jiah Khan suicide case.
Jiah’s mother Rabiya had moved the apex court, accusing the trial court of hearing the matter in the absence of a Special Public Prosecutor. She also requested the top court to order an SIT (Special Investigation Team) probe into the case.

Earlier, the Special Public Prosecutor had pointed out that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is handling the case, has not made much headway even after one-and-a-half-years of probe.
Jiah was found hanging in her Juhu apartment on June 3, 2013. Her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi has been charged with abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A few days ago, Rabiya had accused Sooraj of murdering Jiah. She has demanded that Sooraj be charged with murder, rape and illegal medical termination of pregnancy (Sooraj’s mom Zarina counters Rabiya’s new allegations in Jiah Khan case, May 9th).
Interestingly, the SC intervention comes just days before May 20, on which date the Bombay High Court is likely to decide on charging the Hero actor with murder.
