Javed Akhtar Explains His Tweet On Karan Johar's Party, Drugs And Farmers: 'Concerned About National Problems Then Show Farmer Issues'
A lot has been happening in the film industry right now. Amidst all this, the lyricist and Farhan Akhtar and Zoya's father Javed Akhtar recently made a tweet on Karan Johar parties and farmers, indirectly taking a dig at the news channel for ignoring the ongoing protests of the farmers and instead focussing on Dharma Productions owner Karan Johar’s house party which was held last year. He wrote, 'If Karan johar had invited some farmers too for his party life would have been easier for our TV channels. They would not have had to choose between farmers protest and Karan’s party!. it seems that Karan’s do is the second most favourite PARTY of  our channels'

Explaining his views on the same, Javed while talking to Barkha Dutt in the Mojo story, said that they should start with an entertainment channel and not pretend it to be a news channel. He quipped, "But if you are saying that you are a news channel and are concerned about national problems then show these (farmer) issues." The lyricist also talked about how the Bollywood actresses were grilled by NCB for their alleged link with drugs. To which he said, "I have never used any drug in my life. Although I was not a very disciplined young man and I used to drink a lot. I don't believe in those reports but look at their health, their physique, their physical fitness. These boys and girls, unlike the stars of yesteryear who were not obsessed with their physical fitness, which this generation is.

"In fact, they spend two to three hours in the gym. Do they look like drug addicts? They are extremely professional and responsible people. Today, the film industry is much more disciplined and responsible than it ever was," he further added.

He also remarked that because of the drugs coming into the picture, one cannot attack the entire film industry which is internationally being recognised.
