Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Follows Father's Footsteps; Chooses ‘No Religion’ On College Form
After opening up about facing religious discrimination, Irrfan Khan’s son Babil opts for no religion in the ‘Religious beliefs column on his college form.
On April 29, 2020, Irrfan Khan passed away. After being diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour in 2018, the versatile actor succumbed to it this year. Irrfan is survived by wife Sutapa Sikdar and kids Babil and Ayan Khan. Time and again Irrfan Khan’s son Babil and wife Sutapa take to social media to share some of their best memories together. Right from sharing their pictures from the sets of Angrezi Medium to his reading room, late actor’s fans are treated by his family.
Seems like Babil is walking on father Irrfan’s footstep. Way back, Irrfan Khan dropped his surname and preferred writing Irrfan everywhere. Be it his social media accounts or his movies, he always introduced himself as Irrfan. Now it seems like his son Babil too has flowed his footsteps. Why do we say so? After dropping off his surname from his name, Irrfan had told Mid-day, “I decided to drop the Khan from my name after I was repeatedly asked to state my religion on my passport. I found that very invasive. Religion is a very personal matter. After playing Paan Singh Tomar, I feel very Indian.”
Earlier, Babil had opened up about religious discrimination in his Insta stories. He had mentioned how he has lost his friend due to his surname and how he’s often being called anti-national. He said he misses his friends who have stopped communicating with him because of the surname he’s born with.
