Indian Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year. For the unversed, on this day, Field Marshal KM Cariappa (then a Lieutenant General) took over the charge of the Indian Army from British General Sir Francis Butcher- the last British Commander-in-Chief of India in 1949. Army Day is observed to remember and salute our Bravehearts Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens. Today, on the occasion, social media has been abuzz with heartfelt wishes pouring in every nook and corner.

Right from PM Narendra Modi, Indian celebrities to eminent sports and political personalities, many stars have penned heart-warming notes, saluting the Indian armed forces and their families. A host of celebs, including Sunny Deol, Rhea Chakraborty, Mohanlal, Ranvir Shorey, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to wish fans on Army day.

Sharing a video from his film 'Border', Sunny tweeted, “Let's remember & salute the bravehearts who lay down their lives for us in the line of defence. Respect to those who are deployed to defend our motherland. A class of Extraordinary Men & Women for whom the Country comes FIRST, Always & Everytime! #JaiHind! #ArmyDay #IndianArmy.”

Mohanlal wrote, “Saluting the patriotism and valour of the ladies and gentlemen working in our country's first line of defense.  Indian Army day wishes ! Jai Hind!#IndianArmy #ArmyDay #Armyday2022.”

While extending his wishes to soldiers and their families, Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the bravery and professionalism displayed by the Indian Army and said that words cannot do justice to their invaluable contribution. His tweet read, “Best wishes on the occasion of Army Day, especially to our courageous soldiers, respected veterans and their families. The Indian Army is known for its bravery and professionalism.
