India’s First LGBT Athlete In A Same-Sex Relationship Thinks Kangana Ranaut Is Perfect For Her Biopic
Olympic sprinter Dutee Chand, the first athlete to admit being in a same-sex relationship, thinks Kangana Ranaut can perfectly portray her onscreen in a boipic
India’s current fastest sprinter, Dutee Chand, is India’s first ever athlete to come out and confess that she is involved in a same-sex relationship. The news was met with a mix review- while there were many who were happy about her coming out, there was also an equal number of people who were opposed to it. With this news making the headline, added to her life full of struggles and difficulties, a biopic on her story coming out was to be expected.
In an interview with Bombay Times, Olympic sprinter Dutee Chand told that a lot of filmmakers reached out to her for the rights to her biopic including actor Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra . When asked who she thinks will be able to portray her best onscreen, she expressed, “Finalising an actress is the job of the producer and director. It usually happens only after they are ready with a story. I’ve seen films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dangal and Mary Kom. I think Priyanka Chopra did a very good job in Mary Kom. While I don’t know who will eventually be selected, I think Kangana Ranaut can portray me perfectly on screen, I like her as an actress.”
While reaching out to Kangana for a comment, she was quite humbled and she told BT “That’s very kind of Duteeji. She is the epitome of courage and strength and she has not only set a benchmark in her professional life, but the kind of courage she has displayed in her personal life is also commendable. I am humbled that she feels I am worthy of playing her.” While Dutee Chand does think Kangana will portray her perfectly, there is no news as to who will play the role and whether Kangana will be roped in for the role or not.
