Honey Singh Lands In Legal Turmoil; Booked For Indecent And Lewd Lyrics In His Song Makhna
Popular singer-rapper Honey Singh had to face brickbats for lewd and indecent lyrics in his single Makhna. Lyrics that landed him in trouble are “Main hoon womaniser (I am a womaniser)". Along with the singer, producer Bhushan Kumar was also booked. They are booked under Sections 294 and 509 of Indian Penal Code. While Section 294 deals with punishment for obscene act or words in public, section 509 deals with words, gestures intended to insult woman.

Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati penned a letter to DGP of Punjab Police in Mohali police station. The letter demanded filing of a criminal case against Honey Singh. She said in her statement, “A legal action and an inquiry is required to be initiated by the police on the matter as the song readied by T-series chairman Bhushan Kumar and singers Honey Singh and Neha Kakkar uses vulgar words against women.” Adding further the commission has also demanded for the ban on the song, by stating, “indecent and have a degrading influence on society.”



 
Both Haryana and Punjab court have ordered Punjab Government to book a case against Honey Singh for vulgar lyrics insulting women and demeaning them. The Commission had also demanded authorities in charge of this case to boycott Honey Singh for such indecent influence on the young minds. 



The single had garnered 200 millions views on its release in December 2018.
