Veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya, father of famed singer and composer Himesh Reshammiya, has passed away at the age of 87. On the evening of September 18, 2024, he breathed his last at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after a prolonged battle with age-related health issues, including respiratory complications. His passing marks the end of an era in the Indian music industry, where he not only left a musical legacy of his own but also mentored his son, Himesh, who went on to achieve great success as a composer and playback singer.

Vipin Reshammiya’s contributions to music date back several decades, although much of his work remained behind the scenes, allowing his son to step into the limelight. One of the significant milestones in his career was composing for a Salman Khan film, a moment that introduced Himesh to the superstar. This meeting led to Himesh's breakthrough as a composer for the film Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between Salman and Himesh, which greatly shaped Himesh’s career.

Despite working more in the background, Vipin Reshammiya composed several unreleased tracks, one of which featured the legendary singers Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. Himesh has previously shared his pride in this composition, promising to release it for the world to hear soon.

The funeral for Vipin Reshammiya is set to take place on September 19 in Juhu, where many industry veterans and close friends are expected to pay their respects​
