Here’s Why Rishi Kapoor Lashed Out At Ranbir Kapoor Over An SMS!

Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored is in news almost every day. Excerpts from his book are quite bold and enlightening. However, this time it’s not Rishi but Neetu Kapoor unfolding a hilarious episode which took place between papa Rishi and beta Ranbir!

Neetu Kapoor has penned down the afterword for the autobiography. Narrating one such incident, Neetu revealed one rule that Rishi always follows - each family member has to message him 'Jai Mata Di' when they take off and land anywhere!

In Neetu's words, "Once Ranbir messaged him after boarding a flight but there was a delay in the actual take-off. Meanwhile, Bob (Rishi) had mentally calculated the time of arrival based on when the message had been sent, and when he didn't hear from Ranbir at the estimated time, he went berserk. Eventually, when Ranbir did land, he got his ear chewed off. His father's point was, 'Why did you message me when it wasn't yet time for take-off? I timed your landing in my head and I was worried sick.’”

Talking about another incident, she writes, "During the promotion of Besharam, when all three of us (Ranbir-Rishi-Neetu) flew together, Ranbir said much to my amusement, 'Thank God both you are there. Now I don't have to message and say 'Jai Mata Di.' It's such pressure on me that if I slip up, Papa will go mad.'"

Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography has been in the headlines for a lot of reasons. Talking about his lingering issue with Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi  has written, “He has never given due credit to the actors who have worked with him. He has always credited his writers and directors, Salim-Javed, Manmohan Desai, Prakash Mehra, Yash Chopra and Ramesh Sippy. But it is also true that his co-stars had an undeniable role in his success. Shashi Kapoor in Deewaar (1975), Rishi Kapoor in Amar Akbar Anthony and Coolie or Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha and Dharmendra all contributed to the success of his films where they shared credit with him, even if in secondary roles. This is something no one has realized or acknowledged. But it was the way things were and we accepted it gracefully."

This time it’s Ranbir in the crossfire! Hope he hasn’t repeated his mistake after that episode and has been religiously messaging ‘Jai Mata Di’ to papa Rishi!
