Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy that released early this year has achieved something really great. It has become India’s official entry to Oscars 2020. Yes, you read that right. Guneet Monga, who won an Oscar last year for her short film, has made the announcement on social media. Gully Boy directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment received fabulous reviews from fans and critics and now it is going all the way to the Oscars. 

Farhan Akhtar, the producer too is quite elated with the news as he posted on Twitter, "#GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards. #apnatimeaayega. Thank you to the film federation and congratulations #Zoya @kagtireema @ritesh_sid @RanveerOfficial @aliaa08 @SiddhantChturvD @kalkikanmani & cast, crew and hip hop crew." 


As per reports, Gully Boy was among the 26 entries from India made to the Oscars. Other films in the running were Raazi, Padmaavat, Hichki, October, Love Sonia, Mahanati, Pihu, Kadvi Hawa, Bioscopewala, Manto, 102 Not out, Padman, Bhayanakam, Ajji, Nude, Gali Guliiyan among others. So far only three films including Aamir Khan's Lagaan, Mother India and Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay have made it to the last round of Oscars. Now, Gully Boy is creating history. Now we just can't wait for the makers and the team of Gully Boy to pick up the coveted Oscar. 

Apart from Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, Gully Boy also starred Siddhanth Chaturvedi. It was his debut film and he received great reviews for his performance.
