Good Newwz filmmaker Raj Mehta is a happy man. His first film as a director earned both commercial and critical success. Speaking exclusively with SpotboyE.com, the filmmaker spoke about how the idea of IVF came into play
Debutant filmmaker Raj Mehta is on cloud nine. His first film Good Newwz brought along ‘Good News’ and he couldn’t have asked for a better gift towards the end of 2019. The film still continues minting big money at box-office and is inching near the Rs 200 crore club.
The film which dealt with the story of two couples played by Akshay-Kareena, Kiara-Diljit going through the IVF procedure, not only entertained the masses, but also educated them and gave out a message. When we spoke to the filmmaker, we were keen to know how and where did the idea of making a film on IVF come into play and how did the sperm mix-up concept take shape.
Raj revealed that the co-writer of his film Jyoti Kapoor underwent through IVF in real life and that’s where the core idea came from. Said Raj, “Jyoti had gone through the IVF process. I don't think she had a successful attempt but I think this film was the baby she gave birth to eventually.”
We even applauded him for handling it with extreme care and not crossing the line of vulgarity to which Raj replied, “We were careful about it from the scripting stage. If you see the film in totality, apart from minor improvisations, the film is pretty much the same that we had written. The sensitivity of the subject also came from Jyoti who has experienced it in real. We sat and were very careful that we don't cross the line of vulgarity.”
Indeed, his labour of love managed to wow the audiences and critics alike!
