Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt Terms Nepotism Debate As 'Nonsense'; Says, 'Audiences Made Ranbir Kapoor And Alia Bhatt Stars, Not Their Fathers'
In his latest interview, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt came to the defense of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in the debate of nepotism and stated that audiences love their performances
The word 'nepotism' has proved to be the biggest nightmare for star kids. Especially after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the word has been haunting them again. Social is abuzz discussing the cons of nepotism and blaming the biggest Bollywood stars for not giving an opportunity to the people from outside the industry. However, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has come out in support of star kids and stated that it is the audience who makes somebody a star.
To Navbharat Times, Vikram Bhatt stated that audiences loved the performances of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, and hence they are stars. If they had not given good performances, they would not be such big celebrities, he says. Vikram Bhatt was quoted saying, "If the audience had not appreciated the performances of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, they would have never become stars. The audience is responsible for making them stars and not their fathers. There were several actors, directors who got an opportunity from their families but the audience didn’t like their work and rejected them. I believe that nepotism is a nonsense discussion that has been going on for quite a while now like many other nonsense discussions.”
Further, he shared, "If a father could have made his son a star, then Sunny Deol’s son Karan Deol’s first film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas wouldn’t have been a flop. What did Sunny Deol do when the film did not do well?”
Earlier, the filmmaker had spoken about the use of drugs by Bollywood stars. He stated that he had not been to any parties where drugs were being served by waiters. (Also Read: Vikram Bhatt On Working With Kangana Ranaut, ‘I’ll Be The Clapper Boy Because She Writes And Directs Her Stories’)
