Filmmaker Mani Ratnam Hospitalised After He Complains Of Cardiac Problem
Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam has been hospitalised at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital. Reportedly, the celebrated filmmaker was admitted in hospital after he reportedly complained of cardiac pain. He is known for his films like Guru, Bombay, Dil Se, Roja among others.

A report in Times Now states, “The filmmaker is currently kept under observation at Chennai's Apollo Hospital. The reports of the director's being admitted to the hospital was shared on the social media handle, and more details about the same are yet to come.”

A representative of a media house Lokesh Jey, from Chennai, confirmed the news on social media. His Tweet read, "Director #ManiRatnam admitted to Greams Road Apollo hospital due to cardiac problems."


This is not the first time that the filmmaker has been hospitalized due to cardiac issues. In 2004, the filmmaker had suffered a heart attack while shooting for Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Rani Mukerji, Vivek Oberoi and Esha Deol starrer Yuva. Then almost 10 years later, in 2015, Ratnam suffered second attack. He was again hospitalised due to cardiac problem. Later in 2018, the filmmaker was hospitalized for heart issue again.

On the work front, Mani Ratnam will soon begin to roll his next project with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, titled Ponniyin Selvan which is going to be a multilingual period drama. Confirming the news, Aishwarya had said, “Mani (Ratnam) hasn’t formally announced it yet but the word is out so I will commit to the fact that yes, I am working with him. I will always be more than thrilled, excited and overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with my guru, Mani. So yeah, that’s happening.”
