Filmmaker BR Chopra’s 25,000-sq-ft Bungalow In Mumbai's Juhu Sold For A Whopping ₹183 crores-DETAILS BELOW!
BR house, was an indelible part of Bollywood lore and the family house of one of the foremost filmmakers of Bollywood, BR Chopra. Sadly, the house was sold for a whopping Rs 183 crore. The 25,000-sq-ft bungalow is spread over nearly an acre of land in Mumbai’s Juhu locality.

Renu Ravi Chopra, the wife of Ravi Chopra and daughter-in-law of BR Chopra, reportedly entrusted the property to a popular real estate developer. The company has paid a stamp duty of nearly Rs 11 crore for the registration of the deal.

As per an EconomicTimes report, BR house has been bought by K Raheja Corp for ₹182.76 crore and the realty developer is planning to develop a premium residential project on the plot through its residential development entity. The BR house is located right opposite Sea Princess Hotel, from where BR Chopra conducted his business.

BR Chopra was born on 22nd April 1914, in an undivided Punjab, Baldev Raj Chopra's interest in films started as a movie journalist. After India’s partition, he moved to Delhi followed by Mumbai where he began his career in writing film reviews for Cine Herald Journal.

Later in 1949, he went on to produce his first film Karwat, which unfortunately turned out to be a flop. However, in 1951 he once again tried his luck as producer and director of the film Afsana which turned out to become a mega hit at the box office. In 1955, he formed his own production house BR Films. His first movie for this production house was highly successful Naya Daur.

The filmmaker was known for his offbeat stories that highlighted socially relevant issues and converting them into immortal classics. Some of his films are Dhool Ka Phool (1959), Waqt (1965) and Naya Daur (1957), Kanoon (1958), Humraz (1967), Insaf Ka Tarazu (1980) and Nikah (1982).
