Film Producer Gets SCAMMED Of Rs 10.5 Lakh By House Help; Latter Gets Arrested By Mumbai Police- Read REPORTS
A 65-year-old filmmaker recently fell prey to a scam by his own house help. The latter had reportedly downloaded the PhonePe and transferred Rs 10.5 lakh to his bank account in the span of four months. He did that under the pretext of calling his relatives from the producer’s phone. Not only was a case registered under the sections of fraud and IT Act, but the servant was also arrested by the DN Nagar police.

According to a report by the Free Press Journal, the house help was identified as Syed Irfan Javed. His bank account has been frozen by the police. As per the information stated by the police, the media publication reports that the filmmaker, Ramesh Jagdish Sharma, lives in a rented room in Upkar Society, Juhu-Versova Link Road, Andheri with his son. The fraud came to light after the producer’s cheque bounced and flat owner Ashok Kajane informed him about it.

As per reports, Sharma owns a cottage in Shimla, Manali, Himachal Pradesh which he had given on rent. He receives Rs 18 lakh every year, because of it, which is then deposited in his bank account. It was on October 13, that he had gone to Shimla when Kajane called him to tell him that his rent cheque had bounced. Suspicious of the same he checked his bank statement which revealed that during the period of June 29 to October 11, of the current year, Rs 10.5 lakh was transferred from his account to another.

After knowing that the transaction happened through PhonePe, he downloaded the app and checked the history. It was then that he came to know that the amount was deposited in Irfan’s account. Apparently, the accused was the son of Sharma’s previous workers who had left the job due to an electric shock. Having worked with the filmmaker for the last five years, he had great trust in Irfan, which is why he would often give him the phone to call his relatives. The report goes on to state that the transfer of funds went unnoticed as Irfan would delete the application from Sharma’s phone after every transaction.

For the unversed, Ramesh Jagdish Sharma is known for his works in the 1990s. He has worked with movies like Baaghi, Ek Tha Raja, Aakrosh, Pyaasa and Game.
