Yesterday,
news of a sudden death of a fashion designer took Internet by storm.
Reportedly, 45-year-old Sunita Singh was found dead at her Lokhandwala
residence after accidentally hitting bathroom washbasin. Now, according to the
latest development in the case, the son has been arrested by the Oshiwara
police for physically assaulting his mother which led to her death.
The report
in Mumbai Mirror suggests:
Sunita and Lakshya had an argument
over a minor issue on Wednesday night, resulting in a scuffle. During the
scuffle, Lakshya allegedly pushed his mother and her head hit the washbasin in
the bathroom. She sustained injuries on the back of her head. When the police
reached the spot for a panchnama on Thursday, they had found the washbasin
broken and tilted on one side. They also found blood stains on the floor. When
the police questioned Lakshya, he initially told them that his mother had
locked the bathroom door from inside and did not get any response from her.
However, the residents of the building said that they had heard the family dog
bark constantly postmidnight.
Manoj Kumar
Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner, West Region, spoke to Mumbai Mirror and
said, “He was booked under Section 304 (2) of the IPC (culpable homicide not
amounting to murder).”
Another
police officer told Mumbai Mirror, “The exact reason behind Sunita’s death is
yet to be ascertained, but prima facie it appears the mother and son had an
argument on Wednesday night. Both of them used to consume narcotics
substances.’’
A local
resident told the leading tabloid, “Sunita used to earlier live in Oshiwara and
had shifted to Lokhandwala a few months ago. They had a pet dog and a servant
who used to live with them apart from Ashpriya and Lakshya. They lived in flat
number 301 on the third floor of the buidling. She was a fashion designer but
used to say that she was also a tattoo artist. It is shocking to learn about
her death.’’
