EXCLUSIVE! Saiyami Kher Advises Fans To ‘Celebrate Health Every Day’ On World Health Day; Ghoomer Actress Opens Up About Being A Fitness Enthusiast
Actress Saiyami Kher, who made her Bollywood debut with Mirzya (2018) alongside Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, has been an active sports player. She often runs marathons and takes part in many outdoor activities. On the occasion of World Health Day, she sat down with SpotboyE for an exclusive chat about her inclination towards fitness and how it all started because of her father’s encouragement. She also advised her fans to start celebrating their health every day as it is more important than earning wealth.

Being a fitness enthusiast, how did your journey start?
My journey started when I was very young because I have always been into fitness. I have always loved it. I remember when I was 7-8 years old, I started playing badminton. I would run, swim in the lake, and climb mountains, it was my upbringing. It has pretty much been a part of my existence, ever since I was young. I wouldn’t have been able to live without it.

Who has helped you cultivate your fondness for marathons and sports?
My credit would go to my father, he is also a fitness enthusiast. I guess you watch your parents when you are young. I used to play badminton and cricket professionally, then I moved to Bombay when I started training for marathons. I ran 20 half marathons, 2 full marathons. That shift happened when I moved to Bombay.

One anecdote you could share from your childhood days when your father introduced you to sports
He was the one who introduced me to badminton, to cricket. He was my first coach and my first swim teacher. I was too young to remember an anecdote, he has always been there through my sporting journey since I was very young.

Who is your idol?
My idol has been Sachin Tendulkar since I was young and he remains to be. He taught me a lot on and off the field. I have learned a lot from him. Roger Federer and Sachin Tendulkar are my two idols.

How do you manage your career as an actor and being a fitness enthusiast?
It’s difficult when you are working and during non-stop shoots. We can always find time. So when I used to shoot at FilmCity, I used to run from FilmCity for 5-6 km, making my car wait there. You always find time. As an actor, it takes you to some beautiful locations. I have shot films in some very pretty locations. Whenever I go, I try to run in the country that I go and visit. I try doing that.

Can you tell us about your food habits and how you care for yourself?
I like eating everything, there is no fuss about what I eat. I make sure that my portion sizes are in control. I think as long as that is okay, you are okay with eating anything.

How does your cheat day look like, if you follow one?
Not a cheat day, cheat day, but when I feel like eating, I’ll eat. Diet is extremely essential, so you just can’t keep eating. I feel like eating chocolates every day. I just think it should just be done in moderation. If I feel like eating, I'll eat it. It’s not like I have Sunday as a cheat day.

What’s your favourite thing to eat?
Oh, I love ice cream and chocolates. I’m a big chocolate and ice cream lover. I call for it all the time. I eat it all the time.

Considering most of the people have desk jobs, how can one take care of themselves
Keep walking around.  I used to see my sister during the pandemic. Even if you have calls happening, don’t keep sitting on the chair. Get up and walk around a little bit. Do neck stretches because everyone’s necks are always bent for their phones and laptops. Make sure to look away from your screens and have some sort of a break. Nahi toh break mein bhi, you go and check your Instagram so you are looking at your phone. Keep your screen time less and make sure to walk between your work and calls.

On the occasion of World Health Day, what message would you like to give to the fans?
Celebrate health every day. You can create wealth as much as you want, but you cannot compromise your health for it. Make sure that you celebrate and look after your health every day.

Can you elaborate on your upcoming projects?
I have one film with Excel Entertainment called Agni, that will be released hopefully soon. I have Neeraj Pandey’s Special Ops, which will be released soon. Currently, I’m working on the IPL. It’s something that I'm enjoying as cricket is something that I love.
