Diljit Dosanjh On How He Stayed Positive During 2020: 'Everyone’s Work Is Suffering, Toh Main Kyon Hungama Machaaoon?-EXCLUSIVE
2020, everyone will agree, was the worst year of our lives. Many celebs have been in the news for their philanthropic work and others were in news for reasons best known to them. As the year came to a close Diljit Dosanjh became a sensation as he shut down Kangana Ranaut (who many say is a celebrity troll) in Punjabi for terming farmers as terrorists. But this interview isn't about Kangana or his spat, it is about 2020 and how Diljit stayed positive throughout and chose not to cry over the spilt milk.

Explaining his mantra for survival Diljit said, “You could either cry or laugh about it. I choose to be happy in my isolation. It was a time of tremendous creativity for me. Of course, work has suffered.  But then everyone is in this together. Everyone’s work is suffering, Toh main kyon Hungama machaaoon?  It’s up to us to take this situation positively or negatively. I chose to stay happy.”

Diljit used the time alone to work on a folk album. “Fans of my music have been requesting me to return to my roots as a musician. I worked on an album of traditional Punjabi folk songs.  These are sounds I’ve grown up hearing. And now it’s time for me to harness those sounds into what they mean to me.”

Dilijit says doing the folk album in isolation has been an occasion of self-discovery for him. “Roz savere uth ke riyaaz karta (every morning I woke up and practised my singing). Phir nashta khud banata (then I made my own breakfast). Phir lag jataa apne album or (then I plunged into  working  on my album).”
