Diljit Dosanjh Hugs Amar Singh Chamkila's First Wife Gurmail Kaur At His Film's Premiere, Here's How She Looks - WATCH
It's been over 30 years since the tragic assassination of Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot Kaur, but their memory and legacy endure through his first wife, Gurmail Kaur, and their children. Gurmail, who remains alive and has generally stayed away from the public eye, made a rare appearance at the premiere of Amar Singh Chamkila in Mumbai. This special event saw her joining Chamkila's son Jaiman, the child of Amar and Amarjot, and sharing an emotional moment with Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh. ALSO READ: DID YOU KNOW? In a video shared by Diljit on Instagram, Gurmail is seen in a simple churidaar as she meets and embraces the star on the red carpet. Despite her emotional reaction, she took time for photographs before proceeding to watch the film. Jaiman, who maintains a relationship with Gurmail, spoke last year about his ongoing connection with his father's first family. During an interview with Cine Punjabi, he described how he remains in touch with his two half-sisters, Amandeep and Kamaldeep, who are Gurmail's daughters. Amandeep is married with two children, while Kamaldeep is set to marry in 2023. ALSO READ: Who Was Amar Singh Chamkila? Jaiman's relationship with Gurmail is respectful but not particularly close. He noted that their interactions typically consist of pleasantries rather than deep emotional exchanges. Nonetheless, they occasionally share their grief over the loss of Chamkila. Gurmail often reflects on how different their lives might have been if Chamkila were still alive, citing his hard work and the adversity he faced from enemies.

Jaiman, like his father and sister, has pursued a career in music. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, and each year, he and his sisters honour their father on the anniversary of his death. They host a mela in his memory, inviting fans and fellow artists to celebrate Chamkila's music and legacy. Through these efforts, the family ensures that the iconic singer's influence and contributions are not forgotten.
