Diljit Dosanjh Asked To Cancel His US Concert Backed By Pakistani Promoter; FWICE Writes Letter To The Ministry of External Affairs

Bollywood actor and Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has come under the radar of Federation of Western Cine Employees (FWICE) as he is set to perform in the US. The Udta Punjab actor has been asked to cancel his show in the US on September 21, 2019 which is being promoted by Rehan Siddiqi, who is of Pakistani origin. It was just a few days back, when Bollywood and Punjabi singer Mika Singh was banned from the Indian Film Industry after his performance at a wedding along with a crew of 14 people in Karachi. Now, singer and actor Diljit, has been asked by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to “cancel his commitment in the interest, sentiments and dignity of the nation”.

While FWICE wrote a letter to Dosanjh, they also wrote a letter to Ministry of External Affairs for cancelling Dosanjh and his troupe’s VISA in case he doesn’t cancel his tour. In the letter, FWICE wrote to Diljit, "You are a thorough gentleman and a superb artist which is the pride of India. It is, therefore, a humble request top you to cancel your performance for 21st Sept 2019 in America as it will be befitting in the current time.” Read the letter here:

Ashoke Pandit, also told Mumbai Mirror, “If Diljit doesn’t respond in a couple of days, we will issue a non-cooperation notice against him. Members of the federation associations have already been told not to work with Pakistani nationals. Why should Diljit be exempted from this directive and allowed to hurt sentiments?”
