Dil Chahta Hai Trivia: Before Aamir Khan Was Locked In, THIS Actor Was Supposed To Play The Role Of Aakash
Dil Chahta Hai still remains to be the favourite of youth. Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut venture was loved by one and all. Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna played the leads in this film. But did you know that before Aamir came on-board this film to essay the role of Aakash, there was another actor who was approached to play this role? Yes. Reportedly, it was Akshaye Khanna who was first supposed to play the role of vibrant and lively Aakash in Dil Chahta Hai.

A lot of reports suggest that Farhan Akhtar had to chase Aamir Khan a lot to sign the film. As he could not finalise anything with Aamir Khan, he offered the role of Aakash to Akshaye Khanna. However, in nick of time, Aamir read the script of Dil Chahta Hai and fell in love with it. He finally gave his positive nod to Farhan Akhtar and then the role of Sid was offered to Akshaye Khanna. While the film went on to become a super-duper hit, Aamir, Akshaye and Saif Ali Khan won many accolades for the portrayal of their respective characters.

Not so long ago, Akshaye Khanna had even opened up on the possibility of Dil Chahta Hai part 2. In his interview, he mentioned that he told Farhan Akhtar to make the second part of the film when all the stars are 50 plus. He was quoted saying, "I always told Farhan that wait till all of us are fifty plus and then make Dil Chahta Hai 2. Then it will be fun, it is no fun if you make it after 10-15 years. So now Aamir is 50 plus, Saif will be there soon and I’ll take a little more time and then we’ll see!"
