Shahid Kapoor is one of the finest Bollywood actors and he has spoken several times in the past about how Vishal Bharadwaj's Haider has been a game changing film in his career. Speaking to Pinkvilla, the Farzi actor made a big revelation that he didn't charge a single penny from the director for this Hindi adaptation of Hamlet. The 42-year old mentioned that Vishal and team approached him with the proposition of making the movie, requiring five months of his commitment, including shaving his head and going bald. He further shares how the director told him there wouldn't be a payment involved. Shahid's response was to question why he should do it, to which Vishal sir responded with, "Because it's Hamlet, and I'm making it." ALSO READ: DID YOU KNOW? Shahid Kapoor was convinced and realized that the film wouldn't be made considering his big fat fee. The actor further recalls how Haider is one of the closest film to his heart and he has played the 'most challenging role' in his acting career so far for this Vishal Bharadwaj directorial. Speaking of the 2014 released Bollywood film he said, "Every actor who has played Hamlet (on which Haider was based) has said that they never felt like they were able to completely understand the character or completely express everything that the character went through. So I was again one of those people."
Apart from Haider, Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj have worked together for Kaminey and Rangoon. On work front, SK's upcoming project pairs him with Kriti Sanon in an as-yet-untitled romantic film. This movie is being produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films and Jio Studios banner and is scheduled for release in the future. Shahid was last seen in Bloody Daddy and Amazon Prime Video series Farzi. The actor was praised for his performance in Raj And DK's web show.
