DID YOU KNOW? Karan Johar Took Permission From Madan Mohan's Family To Remake ‘Jhumka Gira Re’ For Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani-READ BELOW
Sadhana emerged as a mysterious heartthrob in the glamorous era of the 1960s, captivating audiences with her undeniable talent and enchanting beauty. Today, her legacy lives on through her timeless songs, with one of her most beloved tracks being "Jhumka Gira Re" from the iconic 1966 film "Mera Saaya."

Her peppy-folksy number, composed by Madan Mohan, continues to resonate with fans across generations.

Now, the popular song has been recreated for Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Needless to say, audiences have already grown sceptical and irritated of the recreated songs and a section of them have even restricted themselves from listening to the new recreated tracks. The recently re-designed Jhumka Gira Re was reportedly made without seeking the approval of the original song’s composer, Madan Mohan’s son Sanjeev Kohli. Legally, Karan Johar was under no obligation to acquire consent. He had already obtained permission from the esteemed music company Saregama.

Now, a source close to the development has claimed otherwise. “Legally, Karan was not bound to seek anyone’s consent. Permission to use the song Jhumka Gira Re has already been taken from the music company Saregama. But Karan felt he should let Madan Mohan Saab’s family know that his song is being used,” the source was quoted as saying by ZoomTV.

Nevertheless, his decision to inform Madan Mohan Saab's family about the song's usage demonstrates his deep admiration for the maestro's contribution to the world of music.

Karan Johar’s family has a deep connection with the song. His father and producer Yash Johar was very close to the iconic actress Sadhana.

“Sadhanaji was Yash Joharji’s rakhi brother. Every year, for Raksha Bandhan, he went to Sadhana’s residence to get a rakhi tied. It was an annual ritual that Yashji never missed until Sadhana’s death,” said the source close to Karan.

Among Sadhana’s most iconic songs, Karan used the monumental Lag Ja Gale Se (originally in the film Woh Kaun Thi) in Bombay Talkies, which is reported to be his father’s favourite song.

Now, in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Karan has used another Sadhana number which his father loved.
