Jackie Shroff is one of the most successful actors in the Hindi film industry. He shot to fame and became an overnight star with Subhash Ghai's 1983 film Hero, and eventually established himself as one of the leading heroes of Indian cinema from the 1980s to 1990s. But did you know Jackie's original name was Jaikishan Kakubhai? Yes, you read that right! In a recent interview, the actor spoke about his journey from being called 'Jaikishan' to 'Jackie' and made some shocking revelations.

Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, the Khal Nayak actor revealed his friends used to call him 'Jaggu dada.’ His mom and father called him ‘Jaggu’ and 'Jaikishan' respectively and that he has many names. The actor was quoted as saying, “My mother used to call me Jaggu, my friends used to call me Jaggu dada, my father used to call me Jaikishan… Some used to call me Jai, others used to call me Kishan. I have many names, you can call me whatever you want, just say it with love.” Jackie further revealed he got his name from a classmate who was from Hong Kong or Dubai. 

The senior actor added “I had a classmate in school, who came from Hong Kong or Dubai. He felt that Jaikishan was a long name, so he told me that we should have some fun with it. He started calling me Jai-ki, and from there, it evolved to Jackie. Jackie Shroff, who started his career by modeling for commercials, is best known for his work in films like Hero,  Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Angaar, Gardish, Khalnayak, 1942: A Love Story, Rangeela, Agnisakshi, Border and Shapath to name a few. He was last seen in Katrina Kaif starrer horror comedy ‘Phone Bhoot.’
