Did You Know Ayushmann Khurrana Was The First Choice For Diljit Dosanjh's Role In Udta Punjab?
Ayushmann who stars in Article 15 next, reveals about one role that he regrets he did not do
Ayushmann Khurrana, who stole the show last year with his two blockbuster films AndhaDhun and Badhai Ho is back with yet another exciting film titled Article 15 that talks about discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. The trailer was out recently and its powerful and gut-wrenching. During the promotions of Article 15 Ayushmann has revealed that he was supposed to play Diljit Dosanjh’s character in Udta Punjab.
Yes, in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ayushmann Khurrana was asked if he had rejected a script but then regretted about it to which he replied “Not really, though I was supposed to be a part of Udta Punjab, Diljit’s character. So I wish that would have happened but ab Article 15 horahi hai so I understand time lagta hai har ek cheez ko.”He then further added that “Tab mujhe bura lag raha tha but now its fine”. After watching Article 15 trailer, it seems like it would have been fun to see Udta Punjab as even that film deals with a sensitive topic.
Coming back to Article 15, through the impressive trailer we explore how millions of Indians suffer because of caste-based discrimination at every level on daily basis. With the shock value and the mere idea of being subjected to discrimination, the trailer manages to sensitize the viewers to the plight of those who suffer because of discrimination every day!
The film also stars Isha Talwar, M Nassar, Manoj Pahwa, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles and is slated to release on 28th June 2019.
