Actress and beauty pageant winner and a true blue humanitarian Dia Mirza emerged as a strong human post her separation with husband Sahil Sangha in 2019. In conversation with an entertainment portal, she spilled the beans about her divorce and its aftermath including her understanding, societal pressure and much more
Actress Dia Mirza and her now ex-husband Sahil Sangha in a very dignified manner announced their separation in 2019. Even though post her divorce, the actress continued to work with full zeal and enthusiasm honouring her work commitments, she never spoke about how things changed around her in terms of her family, friends, and society as a whole. Ultimately spilling beans about the same in conversation with an entertainment portal, she revealed it all. And we must say Dia is truly a diva who handled it with poise and calmness.
Mentioning about people’s reaction to her separation that amused her to Pinkvilla, she revealed about building herself strong enough to face the societal pressure and make peace with it at a very nascent stage. She also mentioned about being honest to herself as things were changing around her without being bogged down. Leaving her amused we're the reactions of the people in this era to divorce; she expressed some having empathy which was understood, but the feeling of sadness and pity, left her amused.
She was quoted saying, "What gives you strength at any circumstance is your understanding of yourself. Else, you will never be able to perceive things that are happening around you. Then, you are being dishonest not only to other people but yourself."
"It amused me. It still amuses me. You are moving in circles where people are educated but they still feel a sense of sadness. There's definitely a sense of empathy as well. So the gaze is not necessarily critical, it's empathetic and sometimes even pitiful. It's also sometimes awe and admiration. Sometimes, people ask me how am I so strong and how do I get up and go to work like this? I just want to tell them I find my way and I hope you'll find yours." Also adding further she mentions that separation is a personal choice of an individual, as people tend to see divorce when partners are not willing to compromise in their relationship. “Some people feel divorce is an excuse to not compromise. Yes. in life, you have to adapt and compromise. But the questions is - when does it stop? how much is too much, how less is too little? That's a personal choice,” added Dia.
Mentioning about people’s reaction to her divorce, everyone from the people who knew them as a couple; their family and friends who have known them as individuals have varied reactions to their decision.
