Dhyan Chand Biopic: Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor In The Race To Bag The Titular Role
Bollywood is set to see another biopic. Just this month we saw Tanhaji’s life story in Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior which gained a lot of appreciation and is setting the cash register on fire. Well, now we have heard that Bollywood is going to witness another biopic which will be on the three-time Olympic gold medalist, Dhyan Chand. The biopic which was in the news for the longest has finally progressed a bit as the script is now written by  Abhishek Chaubey who has written for Udta Punjab. For the film, Bollywood three leading heroes Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan and Ranbir Kapoor are in the race to bag the titular role.

According to a source from Mumbai Mirror, Abhishek and his team of writers are working on the script but with so much literature on the three-time Olympic gold medalist, the team is working hard and focusing on the important parts that can be put together as a script. The source was quoted saying, “Dhyan Chand is one of the greatest players in the history of the national sport. The biopic will largely chronicle his journey to fame during the British Raj.”

The report further reported that casting will be locked in the second half of the year and plans are afoot to take the film on the floors in 2021 with A-list actors. “Many actors have shown interest in playing the hockey legend in the past, so it shouldn’t be a problem to get a top actor on board,” said the source to the portal.

For those who are unaware of Dhyan Chand, “he is one of the greatest players in the history of the national sport. The biopic will largely chronicle his journey to fame during the British Raj,” quipped the source.

Dhyan Chand represented the Indian Hockey team from 1926 to 1948 and scored over 400 goals in the 185 matches that he played as a centre forward during his international career, which includes three Olympic Gold Medal wins in 1928, 1932 and 1936.
