In her first interview after marriage, Deepika Padukone spilled the beans over many things like her wedding, dating life and also why ex-boyfriend, Ranbir Kapoor missed her wedding reception
Deepika
Padukone and Ranveer Singh held a 2-day long wedding festivities at Lake Como,
Italy. The couple then went onto hold multiple receptions in Bangalore and
Mumbai respectively. After marriage, Deepika’s first interview was aired last
night, on Colors Infinity. In the chat show, Famously Filmfare, hosted by
magazine's Editor, Jitesh Pillai, the actress revealed multiple details about
the wedding, life after marriage, dating Ranveer and many other things. Out of
these, she also spoke on ex-flame, Ranbir Kapoor's absence from her d-day.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the actress also revealed, why Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt didn’t attend her wedding reception. “We’ve not spoken. I mean, we spoke before the reception but we have not spoken after. But, that’s him. I’m not surprised at all. But, that’s the relationship we share and that’s the beauty of that relationship; so much is said without saying much at all,” she said on the show.
For those who’ve missed the episodes, here we bring to you some more excerpts from the interview. When the actress was asked, what does ‘ek chutki sindoo’ now means to her? She replied saying, “The day we got married we had a dinner that same night, Ranveer had to put sindoor on me, it was surreal, you watch other people doing it onscreen or you read about it, and then it actually happens to you, it's beautiful.”
When asked about why they went for Lake Como, Italy, the Bajirao Mastani actress revealed, “We announced everything, we announced (wedding dates) a month before we got married and I’d anyway taken this year off as I needed to replenish emotionally, so it all just worked out. Why outside of India, because privacy was very important for us and somehow when we went around, that place just felt correct. It was magical, everything just went off so beautifully, and it was perfect. The weather was lovely, the sun was beautiful, magical is the one word to sum it all up.”
Talking about holding two wedding ceremonies, she said, “Ranveer and his family would have been happy with just doing the South Indian ceremony, but for me it was important that we embrace his culture as well."
Further,
Deepika was asked if her mother-in-law gave her tips to handle him, she said,
“No, in fact as a joke they are like 'please take him'. I think he's the most
scared of me versus his parents or sister, I'd like to believe when they want
something to get done they'll ask me to do it"
Talking about how things have changed after marriage, she said, “The fact that for so many years I lived alone, that I finally get to share a space with someone, I'm not alone anymore, we're together. Of course Ranveer is working, I'm working, but the fact that we wake up to each other, I think that's the most beautiful thing.”
Revealing
the details about the first meeting and the time she felt Ranveer was special
to her, the actress quipped, “The first time I met Ranveer was at an award
function in Singapore. I was at Yash Raj, I had finished a shoot, he was here,
and he was flirting like nobodies business. And I was smiling to myself and I
said 'you're flirting with me' and he's like 'no I'm not flirting with you.”
