Days After Virat Kohli Controversy, Naseer's Event Cancelled Amid Protests Over His Cow Remark
Post his Virat Kohli remark, Naseeruddin Shah finds himself in trouble again. His Ajmer event has been called off. The veteran is definitely not amused
An event at the Lit Festival in Ajmer where Naseeruddin Shah was supposed to deliver a speech this evening has been cancelled amid protests by right wing groups over the senior actor's comments on the Bulandshahr mob killing of a police officer earlier this month. The protest is against Naseer's remark earlier this week that the "death of cows was being given more importance than the death of a policeman". No prizes for guessing that the event has been called off keeping in mind that if held, it might lead to chaos of some kind.
In an interview aired by NGO Karwan-e-Mohabbat on Monday, he also said that that he fears for his children. "I have said this earlier as well. What did I say this time that I am being called traitor?" he demands to know. However, Amit Jani, president of the Navnirman Sena, wants him to migrate to Pakistan, Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Mahendranath Pandey likened him to his role in Aamir Khan starrer Sarfarosh.
Naseeruddin Shah is a good artiste... In one of his movies, he played the role of a Pakistani agent. I think he is growing into that character now," Pandey said. And now, he is being mercilessly trolled.
The Congress on Thursday endorsed Naseeruddin's views, while BJP representatives have called it a promotional stunt. Commenting on that, Naseeruddin said: "Yes, they will say so. And then you can say that it was the Australian team that asked me to speak against Virat Kohli." A few days ago, Naseer had called Virat Kohli as the 'Worst Behaved Player'
